About Me
My name is Lexie Armand, and I am an Interior Designer in Dallas, TX. After graduating from Purdue University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Art in Interior Design, Minor in Horticulture, and Certificate of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, I moved from my parents' farm in Indiana to Dallas, TX to start my career as an Interior Designer at BKV Group.
I am often asked how I got into interior design from my upbringing on a small family farm, and the answer can be summed up as "it was just meant to be." I have always been very creative, but also grounded in logic. As a kid I would constantly rearrange my room, obsess over Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, and draw what I now know to be elevations of all the cool things I wanted to build in my bedroom. I also gained early experience with an indecisive client when my mom wanted to paint the living room, and spent two years going back and forth with me on colors before finally agreeing to my red paint choice on one wall, and later extending it across another wall because she loved the color! Of course, none of this was evident to me when I started college without a major, spending a bit over a year exploring majors including horticulture, landscape architecture, industrial design, and hospitality & tourism management, before I finally settled on interior design.
In my time at BKV Group I have had the opportunity to work with several talented designers and architects on projects ranging from luxury high-rise apartments to banks to fire stations to to affordable housing to student apartments. I have greatly appreciated working across diverse project types, and creating spaces with several unique styles. Some of my favorite projects have been Modera Katy Trail in Dallas, TX, Signature Hartwell Village in Clemson, SC, and an pair of apartment buildings currently under construction in the Sugar House neighborhood of Salt Lake City, UT. These projects have strong concepts with ties to their local communities, which resulted in beautiful spaces that feel familiar and comfortable.
When I am not working, I enjoy sewing, walks with my dog at White Rock Lake, and tending to my vast collection of herbs and houseplants. I also love finding items at garage sales, thrift stores, or back on the farm and giving them new life through upholstery, refinishing, or fully repurposing!
